Sandburg’s Otting Takes 5th in Conference Meet at Highland

Grant Otting (Taylor Ridge, Ill./Rockridge) placed fifth individually and the Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team took third place in the fourth Arrowhead Conference meet of the season Tuesday at Park Hills.
Otting birdied the first and ninth holes on the front nine on his way to a round of 6-over-par 78. Cole Hopping (Vermont, Ill./VIT) joined Otting in the top 10, shooting 8 over to tie for ninth. Trace White (Mount Pleasant, Iowa/Mount Pleasant) tied for 14th with an 81, and Calvin Peterson (Williamsfield, Ill./Williamsfield) tied for 17th with a round of 81.
The Chargers’ 322 score was third on the day. Illinois Valley took first place with a 306, and Black Hawk was second at 322. Sandburg finished ahead of Highland (335) and Sauk Valley (344).
IVCC’s Colton Novotny shot a 1-over 73 to win medalist honors, beating teammate Ian Roach and Black Hawk’s Gannon Haskins by a shot.
